Rugged phones are not toys. Rugged toys are tools of a trade for serious and dangerous jobs. Rugged phones are not designed to play games or to trade on the stock market. Although I believe that on the hands of specialist can do the job just as well as any other top candidate. I'm a Electromechanic engineer and I have a CAT S60 PRO since 2014 and after almost 9 years of good work and going as far as maybe saving my life in some occasions. When I have too enter a High Voltage substation I measure the temperature before entering. High temps is a sign of something wrong and a potentially lethal situation. I know than that I have to take extra precautions and use different PPE. After entering the station I scan the entire bank of switchgear and quickly identify where the problem is remotly. My rugged phone has probably saved my life from s electrical flashback more than once. So what I'm saying is that I have a lot of respect for rugged phones and the MEN and WOMEN who used them as tools of their trade. I'm ordering today a BL8800 rugged phone (not because is something wrong with my CAT S60 but after almost 9 year's of service I can't get updares anymore and some new software requires new OS. I'm choosing the BV8800 PRO vs a CAT S62 Pro because the BL shows better specs. I hope I'm not making a mistake as I don't have any experience with the BL phones..
I'm a scientist and I use the FLIR camera pretty often... not a gimmick if you actually have applications for it.
what the hell are you talking about, Thermal imaging cameras alone cost around 400Euros at least, I am looking for a thermal imaging phone for inspections of main lines, fuse boxes, wiring, inspecting heating radiators, inspecting cooling systems of freezers, inspecting displacement of heat in the room, inspecting thermal leakage in house, doors, windows insulations, security inspections of people with high temperature during the pandemic lockdown in cancer clinic... etc... it is a great tool.

Can it be switched to English on the phone? I know you said it was in Russian but didn't say whether or not you could change the language. Kinda feel like this is a rhetorical question because you can change just about any phone into the preferred language. Was just wondering. Any comments???
I live in Canada and just got this phone. Due to the unusable charging block. $100 import fees. Inability to clone/transfer everything from my old phone easily. Inability to get working drivers on my Work Laptop or home PC (to transfer or eventually backup). Bloatware that I can't get rid of due to above driver problem. The fact that Blackview will NOT warranty against water damage (especially if you test it at 1.5m for 30 minutes). Lack of SD an slot and inability to swap one of the dual SIM slots for an SD. And that's all I got so far. For anyone after a mil-spec H phone with Thermal cam I'd recommend the CAT62 instead (which JUST went on sale for same price I ended up paying for the BL8800 pro).

Like others have said thermal imaging is not a gimmick i use it to diagnose faulty components on circuit boards, your rugged tests were pants this review is pathetic

i should really control myself for not screaming stupid at you, watching this video. but are you? thermal imaging is one of the most useful features, and one of the main reasons i am looking at this phone and other flir phones. what can you use flir for? how about seeing where your house needs an insulation? where the electric problem is in your pc? etc...

When this phone saves your life cause you"play"with it and accidentally see a hot spot in your house that could lead to a fire, if you're still not grateful for it, then you can tell me it won't be my everyday device. But until then I'll use one everyday.
How long does it support Android updates?
If you dont need Termal View, buy the normal BL8800... but dont call it useless! i´m a firefighter and can see little fires with y phone.. also at my car service i can use it for checking temp of breaks, engine and my other things... electrician use it too... its not an gimmick, its a tool!
Came here hoping for a good review. The moment he tells you that you "don't need" thermal camera because its for "camping and manuvueres more than anything else", I stopped listening. Thermal imaging is great to have for many industries, even property agents and pest control. So to say that thermal imaging is not needed in the invention that already has clocks, calculators, excel spreadsheets, torchlight, media player... The main people sourcing out videos like these literally want thermal camera phones because thermal cameras are already used in daily work, or can be used to enhance problem diagnoses on site. Assuming that a technology is not needed because you don't know its useful applications is a very fast way to become a dinosaur. Learn technology. Skill up. Stay relevant.
As a refrigeration mechanic I can use a thermal camera to look for refrigerate leaks so if it not useful for you it doesn't mean it is not good for any one. Please do more research
Thermal is extremely useful. Been living with it's predecessor and damn, super super useful. You can tell exactly how hot your microwaved food is and exactly where to stir for just one nifty use. I do ebikes, so it's nice to know exactly what and where is getting hot. Can check your fridge if it's not getting properly cold. Everyday temperatures in and out. Great for work too if you do furnace stuff.

This smartphone is looking great at this price range. The camera setup and Mediatek chipset are amazing.

So many cool features has been given by Blackview in this smartphone - in the area of the camera and the battery - and the Dimensity 700 is an added bonus.
This is a nice smartphone by the brand. I like that they have used a Mediatek chipset in it!

Unless I'm mistaken. I ordered the bl8800 pro because it's the one with the flir thermal imager. The one you show in the video is the bl8800. Which has the IR night vision. And unfortunately neither one has both features so had to choose the thermal over the IR night vision for myself. Unlike the dodgee s98 pro that's going to be released soon that has both. Just wish I had found the s98 pro before I ordered the bl8800 pro
How are the photo's from this model. I'm using the BV9900 pro but the quality of the photo's are still very bad to moderate. Is there any improvement compared to slightly older models?

i live in canada i have a BV5900 THIS PHONE is incredibal.the engineer mode is just great.when you get in it you can adjust all channels lte and what ever else shut off some what ever,turn of satilite signals of your choice.i have a sim card no data whats so ever and i can download anything as fast if not faster than if i have data or internet.i run the hotspot to the pc 2 pcs infact i pay nothing for data or internet at all just 10 dollars for phone service so i have a live sim card.set roming on.set data to 900 gb.set warning to 800 gb.set to 4g calling access data using mobile is always on and auto select network.wifi scanning on and use smart connection.had this phone for 18 months not once has it caused any problems.it is ONE SMART PHONE

Having the thermal camera built into the phone is a great idea, but FLIR is hot trash. The new Chinese camera dongles just blow old FLIR out of the water, from resolution to framerate. FLIR has been overpricing thermal cameras for 2 decades now, with little innovation and absurd prices. For $300, or less, you can get x4 to x16 times the resolution, running at 25fps, not 9. FLIR needs to die as a company. They are a dinosaur that's held back the thermal cameras for too long, all just to rake in more money off Government contracts.
