I am loving my first ever Google Pixel phone . .The 4a 5g is brilliant ..was surprised how decent the cameras are
You can't give google and their pixel phones a hard time for not having a feature they've NEVER had on their phones. Like micro SD card support. Just buy a USB C thumb drive and whenever you need to make space, connect that thumb drive to the USB C on the pixel phone and move files and gigs around. You can keep that drive on your key chain. Do I personally wish it had micro SD card support? Yes absolutely. But at least they brought back the headphone jack. I'm not much of a wireless charging user myself but imagine if the 4a 5G had wireless charging and the micro SD card slot...with all of its normal specs, it would be THE BEST google phone ever. Maybe one day. But like I stated, there ARE workarounds that make sense.

Waiting for mine to come in now. Coming from Moto phones which I got a new one ever year due to price except my current one which I had for 2yrs. I decided to buy this for the camera and mainly the updates. I can buy one phone and keep it for 4yrs?
So if I buy this from google directly I can use this on metro if I transfer my sim card?
Great review. I've been wanting to come on board with the Pixel family for some time now, and this is the phone that is going to do it for me. I appreciate your matter-of-fact style with no hyperbole, allied with bare facts without simply reeling off a list of stats. Actually witnessing the video, including the speed of autofocus, is a great example of this. My only gripe would that it would be nice to see the same in different light conditions, for example. We don't have so many clear, bright, blue skies where I come from!

Can you compare the Galaxy A51 5G and Galaxy S20 FE to this phone? I can't decide between which one I should get.
The only thing I don't like about it is you can't change the order of the navigation buttons The back button is on the left and I prefer it on the right. Find it more ergonomic to have it on the right side like my previous phones
Pixel have the best phones to me. I have the iPhone 12 and the pixel 4a 5g feels smoother to me. It's a great phone. I love google pixel phones.

Sounds like a great phone for the money. The most important things that are missing is the SD card and a nice big 6.7 inch screen or larger. Really enjoyed your content. You cover a nice range of phones at different price points. The truth is that most people buy low to midrange phones that cover their needs and at the same time are more wallet friendly. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the review Kevin... If I were to increase my phone spending habits again (been on the cheap for past year+ and enjoying it) the Pixel 4a 5G would probably be it. Reason being, not overly expensive (still $700 CAD) and Goggle is the only Android OEM I'd trust right now to deliver timely and consistent updates, something I care a lot about these days. Don't care about its 5G capabilities as where I live likely won't be a factor for quite awhile yet. Camera's are definitely one of its high points liking that... Already own the 2 XL and it's OK too in that department but sadly has entered EOL in terms of support.
I paid $264 with a trade in. The only thing I wish that it had is a notification 🔔 led light.
I have got to know I dont have much money at all and I am still a little ways on purchasing the Galaxy a51 and wondering if it worth all my money

Just how do I get the dam. Nightlight OFF when there was a phenomenal sunset. It makes me sooo mad. Why can't I shut off the grey scale and get normal camera?
Small correction on the speaker: 4a does use the earpiece up top for a subtle stereo effect. I think they could bump up the volume on it a bit more, but it is there!
Still using the 4a as primary phone! Still fine for regular day to day usage and yes, the camera is way better than today's midrange phones.
The battery wears fast. Commenting from a Pixel 4a.

I just got the Pixel 7 yesterday, so I'm moving on from my 4a at this point, but MAN I really loved this phone. Such a great value for the cheap price, and the size and build on this phone is so nice. And I'll really miss that rear finger print sensor! 4a rocks!
I wish 6a is similar to this.. instead of bulky squarish type..
I do know that the phone has custom ROM with people buying it on eBay

I can't believe nobody else has said this yet. But the 4a is probably, the worst phone google has put out thus far. The plastic body is not durable by any means. If you live anywhere where the climate is hot, your finger print reader will melt off, regardless of what kind of case the phone is in. The screen bugs/ glitches from this model are horrendous.

Tbh this is really the best simple phone a 14 year old could get, it has a very nice touch and everything, it's heartwarming to have a phone like this.
I've been using one for a year. I'm really happy with it, except for the keyboard. I make more typos on this than I did on previous phones. Idk what he was talking about with the performance. Mine is great. It's so snappy I can barely notice 90hz phones (with better processors) being better.
