Hi Jose, I bought this flip phone but the whatsup app does not work and when I side loaded apps they don't work. Cell phone indicates it has Android 8.1 and when I try to update the phone, it says it is updated. Any idea why whatsup and side loaded apps don't work? Thanks Jose for your help on this.

Jose - your channel is the best by the way. I've followed other digital minimalist channels, but none are as informative and stay up on changes of devices like yours. It makes no sense why anyone would give a thumbs-down on any video... you provide information and let us decipher how it applies to our lives without being forceful in your own opinion. Digital minimalism seems most difficult for those that have a security mindset and still require a cell phone. I love the concept of the Light Phone and I enjoyed your interview with Joe. However, secure messaging should be a default in today's creepy world of big brother watching what we do. It seems like KaiOS has such a limited offering of devices in the US that it is a no-go, the MP02 is expensive (yet has signal messaging), the Mudita Pure looks promising (yet expensive and questionable regarding signal or other secure messaging). VOIP is grossly-insecure as well as SMS... this is a big problem for many of us. Tianhoo and many others are out there pumping out cheap dumbphones that seem to be riddled with issues from the build-quality on up. Probably there are many of us out here that want a well-built and simple phone with some very basic security (like signal where calls/texts can be utilized). It seems like the solution has to be 2-fold with the current offering of devices. Either... have a smartphone for work purposes and a dumb phone for getting away (and have any conversation/text with the understanding that there is little to no security layer) OR... have a secure smartphone and limit how it is used and limit every app (which requires more personal commitment and attention to detail). Keep these videos rolling! This is good stuff!

Hey, I appreciate the review. It was only a few minutes into the review that I realized that this phone is just a repackaged Jethro phone. Made for seniors? No. Made for memory challenged elderly? No. First off, the phone is too small. The buttons - however fewer in number - are too small. The screen is complicated and the SOS button will only serve to piss off the local police department / 911. I've bought 2 Jethro phones for my mother. Both were junk. I hope the mosthink is better but I have to say that I am scared of them. Your review helped me to decide this is not the phone I need to get for my memory challenged mom. (And that is not a slam. You saved me days of potential headaches, so thanks.) On a side note, the tech world can make a watch into a cell phone but they cannot empathize enough with seniors to make a phone that will both work and be understandable. Shame Shame Shame on them!

Got this phone for my disabled brother. Whenever he gets a call and hangs up the display says EMERGENCY instead of HOME and he cannot get or make calls in that mode. Why does it do that and how can we set it so that it will not show Emergency on display. He has to shut phone off and back on again to make it work for a call. Locking and unlocking does not do the trick.

We got one of these phones for our learning disabled sister. She gets confused and sometimes turns on the flash light and leaves it on. So right now I can’t get it to hold a charge. Do you suppose a new battery is in order?
